The Nomads formed around 1962 to play rock and roll covers. Originating from Oxenhope. Playing the local youth club circuit which consisted mainly of the Crotona, Parkwood, Haworth and Central youth clubs.

There is a little more on the early years on the members page

The bands name came from a member of Haworth youth club. Letter from Phil Dore to  keighleynews.co.uk
